㉑Invisible Ink with Lemon Juice (레몬주스로 만드는 투명 잉크)
Making invisible ink is a lot of fun! You can pretend you are a secret agent as you keep all your secret codes and messages hidden from others. All you need is some basic household objects and the hidden power of lemon juice.
투명한 잉크를 만드는 것은 정말 재미있어요. 여러분은 모든 비밀 코드나 메세지를 다른 사람들로 부터 지키면서 마치 비밀 요원이나 된 것처럼 행동해 볼 수 있어요. 필요한 것은 일반적인 가정 용품과 레몬주스의 특별한 숨는 재주 예요.
■ Material (실험 재료)
Half a lemon (레몬 반쪽) / Water (물) / Spoon (숫가락) / Bowl (그릇) / Cotton bud (면봉) / White paper (흰종이) / Lamp or other light bulb (램프나 전구)
■ Procedure (실험 방법/절차)
Squeeze some lemon juice into the bowl and add a few drops of water. (레몬을 짜서 레몬주스를 그릇에 담고 물을 몇방울 떨어뜨리세요)
Mix the water and lemon juice with the spoon. (레몬 주스와 물을 숫가락으로 잘 섞어 주세요.)
Dip the cotton bud into the mixture and write a message onto the white paper. (면봉을 섞은 레몬물에 찍어서 흰종이에 메세지를 써 보세요.)
Wait for the juice to dry so it becomes completely invisible. (주스가 다 마르게 되면 쓴 글씨가 완전히 보이지 않게 될 거예요)
When you are ready to read your secret message or show it to someone else, heat the paper by holding it close to a light bulb. (여러분이 쓴 비밀 메세지를 읽을 준비가 되었을때나, 다른 사람에게 보여줄 준비가 되어 있을때, 종이를 전구 가까이에 대어서 종이에 열을 가해 보세요.)
The heat from the light bulb will cause the writings to darken, allowing you to read the invisible writings! (전구에서 가해진 열이 쓰여져 있는 글씨를 진하게 만들어 투명했던 글씨를 읽을 수 있도록 해줘요!)
■ Scientific Explanation (과학적 설명)
Lemon juice is an organic substance that oxidizes and turns brown when heated. Diluting the lemon juice in water makes it very hard to notice when you apply it the paper, no one will be aware of its presence until it is heated and the secret message is revealed. Other substances which work in the same way, include orange juice, honey, milk, onion juice, vinegar and wine. Try this experiment with different substances! (레몬주스는 열이 가해 졌을때 산성화가 되고 갈색으로 변화되는 유기물 이예요. 레몬주스를 물에 희석 시키게 되면 이 물질을 종이에 묻혔을때 알아보기가 무척 어렵게 되죠, 그래서 종이가 가열되고 비밀 메세지가 보여지기 전까지는 비밀 메세지의 존재를 아무도 모르게 되는 것이죠. 이와 같은 작용을 하는 다른 물체는 오렌지 주스, 꿀, 우유 그리고 양파 주스, 식초, 와인이 있어요. 같은 실험을 다른 물체를 가지고 한번 해보세요!)
